Apartment Removalists Brisbane for Lifts, Stairs and Tight Access

An apartment move is controlled as much by the building as by the furniture. Lift windows, loading docks, basement clearances, body corporate rules and the distance from the truck to the door can decide whether the day runs smoothly. SwiftMove asks about those details before arrival.

Is this the right SwiftMove service?

We move studios, units and apartments across inner Brisbane, Northside, Southside and the western suburbs. The right plan may use a compact truck for restricted access, an additional trolley for a long corridor, or a crew timed precisely around a booked service lift.

Book the building before the removalists

Ask building management whether a lift booking, move-in bond, protective padding, Certificate of Currency or loading-bay reservation is required. Confirm permitted hours and the maximum truck height. Send the instructions with your quote request so the crew and vehicle match the booking.

Plan the path, not only the apartment

Walk from the likely truck position to the front door. Count stairs, measure narrow turns and note security doors, ramps, lift dimensions and long internal corridors. A five-minute access check can prevent waiting, extra carries or a vehicle that cannot enter the loading area.

Larger apartments and difficult access

A large apartment can involve the same volume as a house, with additional limits on lifts, parking and access times. Send the full inventory together with the building's moving instructions. Include the route from the truck to the apartment, not only the number of floors.

We assess stairs and heavy items before agreeing the crew and rate. Building access, lift reservations and any required paperwork must be arranged and shared before the move; tell us what the building requires so we can confirm our part. If management requests insurance information, ask us for the available documentation before the booking date.

Protect shared areas

Moving blankets and shrink-wrap protect furniture in transit. Building rules may also require lift padding or specific floor protection. Tell us what management supplies and what the removalist must bring. Clear communication protects the property and helps avoid body corporate disputes.

Make the lift window work

Have cartons closed and furniture ready before the booked period. Reserve one person to direct items at the destination while the crew keeps the lift moving. If the building allows only a short slot, tell us before booking; the correct crew size is often more valuable than the lowest headline hourly rate.

Clear pricing before moving day

Local hourly bookings have a two-hour minimum, then 30-minute billing blocks, at a rate that depends on the truck and crew your move needs. Travel from the pickup address to the delivery address is part of the paid moving time, and one call-out fee covers dispatching the truck and crew. Your written confirmation sets out the rate, the call-out fee and the agreed scope together.

The agreed truck and crew, moving equipment and packing materials used for your booking are included, including materials you keep. Packing, unpacking and putting belongings away are extra work charged at the agreed hourly rate when they are part of the scope. Rubbish and used-packaging removal is a separate service with time and disposal charges.

Stairs, long carries and heavy items change the time a move needs, and stairs can also change the hourly rate, so send access photos before booking. Nearby local moves are often booked without a deposit; a deposit may be required for a distant pickup and is required for interstate moves, with any amount agreed before you commit. See how your move is priced for the full explanation.

Important belongings and transport limits

Keep passports, money, jewellery, medication, keys, settlement papers, irreplaceable data and other valuables with you. SwiftMove cannot load gas bottles, flammables, aerosols or hazardous goods. Tell us before booking about pianos, safes, slate tables, workshop equipment and any item over 100 kg so the job can be assessed safely.

Read the current Terms for liability, exclusions and claims conditions. Tell us about high-value or fragile belongings before booking so the handling requirements can be assessed.

Make an apartment access checklist

Use our Brisbane apartment moving guide to organise lift bookings, parking and body corporate requirements at both properties.

Want either apartment cleaned before your furniture arrives or after it leaves? Ask about cleaning with your move and include your lift booking times. Cleaning is arranged separately and is not part of the moving booking.

A real example: a fourth-floor Gold Coast delivery

On one Gold Coast job, we carried belongings roughly 150 metres to the stairs, then up to the fourth floor. A large fridge had very little clearance but arrived without scratches. The owner recalls the whole job taking around six hours, largely because of the walking and stairs. Read the full moving story for what this means when describing your own access.

Frequently asked questions

Can SwiftMove provide insurance information to body corporate?

Tell us exactly what the building requests when you enquire. We can confirm the documents available for the booking and whether they meet the stated requirement.

Do stairs change the price?

They can affect both the working time and the hourly rate. Send photos of the stairs, turns and access route before booking so we can assess the job and agree the rate with you.

Can the truck enter a basement?

Only if the clearance, turning space and loading rules suit the selected vehicle. Send the posted height limit and a loading-area photo before the move.

Do you move single items from apartments?

Yes. The same access information is required even for one couch, fridge or Marketplace pickup because building restrictions often determine the job time.
