A Gold Coast Apartment Move: 150 Metres to the Stairs, Then Four Floors

On one Gold Coast job, the stairs were only the second challenge. First came roughly 150 metres of carrying, followed by a fourth-floor delivery and a fridge with very little clearance.

This is a job our team remembers for the access. We were moving a customer on the Gold Coast, and there was roughly 150 metres between the loading point and the stairs. From there, the belongings had to go up to the fourth floor.

A long carry before the stair climb

Every load involved the walk to the stairs, the climb, and the return trip. That repeated distance made the work demanding and added substantially to the time needed for the move.

The size of the load was only part of the picture. The route between the truck and the apartment shaped the whole job.

A large fridge with very little clearance

One of the most difficult items was a large fridge. The clearance on the stairs was so tight that it almost touched the walls as we carried it up.

We discussed the tight clearance and risk of scratches with the customer before continuing. Getting the fridge upstairs mattered a great deal to them. We managed to deliver it without scratching it.

Why the whole move took about six hours

The whole move took around six hours. The long walks and repeated stair trips accounted for much of the time, making it a physically demanding day for the team.

For an hourly move, difficult access can increase the total through extra working time. It helps to understand how moving costs are calculated before comparing estimates.

What to tell us about your apartment

  • How far the truck can park from the entrance or stairs.
  • Which floor you are moving to and whether a usable lift is available.
  • Any tight turns, narrow doors, landings or height restrictions.
  • The dimensions of large items such as fridges, wardrobes and sofas.
  • Any building access windows or loading restrictions.

Photos or a short video of the full route help us understand what you mean by “a few stairs”. Include the walk from the parking space, not just the front door.

Our apartment moving service explains how we plan around access, and our apartment moving guide covers lifts, parking and building arrangements. We also help with individual furniture and appliance moves.
